In the meantime, prospective students may take a virtual tour of the KU Geography & Atmospheric Science Department here.
Geographers study how things -- groups of people, cultural trends, climate impacts, etc. -- interact and how movements may be altered by different kinds of borders (political borders, ecosystem boundaries, urban infrastructure). They aim to understand connections between processes and places and to generate informed questions and critical thinking towards policy solutions and theoretical frameworks.
Atmospheric Science at KU is the only one of its kind in the state and has a unique interdisciplinary nature that pursues cutting-edge research and quality education that combines theory, modeling, diagnostic studies, and applications to generate solutions that make a real difference in people's lives. Our faculty provide a rigorous educational experience through several specialized pathways for the undergraduate degree and through funded research opportunities for graduate students.
