Biography

Julie Morris is a lecturer at the University of Kansas in the departments of Geography, African and African American Studies, and Global and International Studies. She earned her PhD in geography from the University of Kansas in 2021, focusing her research broadly on Sub-Saharan African geography. Specifically, her research centered on the Pokot, a western Kenyan and eastern Ugandan pastoralist people group, examining topics of religion, colonial legacies, international networks, and historical trajectories as they relate to the development and sense of place of the region. Her teaching reflects her focus on student engagement with cultural and geographic topics related to Sub-Saharan Africa.
